After President Rodrigo Duterte announced the enhanced community quarantine due to COVID-19 which is on alert level 2, events are postponed and re-scheduled, commercialized establishments like malls are closed, public transportations either land/sea/air were cancelled, some works were suspended because the management wanted to suspend it for the safety of their employees, and classes are automatically suspended.

The DepEd and CHED form alternative ways for the students to comply with their school works in amidst of month-long class suspension. It is the maximization of online classes. Students log in within the online portal daily for checking assignments, activities, announcements as a form of usage maximization.

Online classes prove to be good and reliable for those students who have wifi connection at their homes and own gadgets (especially laptop) for fast compliance. But it is the opposite for some students without internet access or own laptop or both because of the financial status.

Since the enhanced community quarantine was implemented here at Luzonfor a month, at 1st week of quarantine, everything is on a good flow and school works are well complied. Except for the 2nd week, there are complaints from us students because even at online class it is stressful due to loaded school works.Second, the student portal system runs slow because of many users who accesses at the same time.Lastly, not all students are able to comply with the school works.

Therefore the students plea to the university student government, the AUSG about this matter. AUSG never failed to reach us and to hear out our concerns, and we praise them for it. Last March 16, they posted on social media regarding the concerns of the students at online classes and AUSG agreed to raise those concerns to the Admin that could deal with it.

On March 17, AUSG posted again that the Admin responded to their letter and will discuss these concerns, same day that the CHED released a statement regarding the concerns at online classes. And March 18, the Admin released an official memo stating that online classes are now suspended from March 18 to April 14.

We plead the suspension of online classes not because we are not interested to go to our classes but for the safety of other students, and for the sake of balanced learning and compliance.
