Cancellation of UAAP due to COVID-19

President Rodrigo Duterte declared the cancellation of classes in all levels due to COVID -19. In relation to this, the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) tournament board decides to cancel all the sports operations for Season 82 and all the said activities.

On April 7,2020, the UAAP Inc. had released an official statement that they have come to the decision to cancel the whole season for this year due to the extension of the ECQ and also the social distancing because of COVID-19 outbreak. It is impossible for the activities to be met this year, they suggest to focus on the current crisis that the country is facing and resolve the issues in proper

time.

During a meeting the UAAP came about with cancellation and many of the students especially the athletes feel sad about the said announcement. Decision to cancel all events came with intention to prioritize the safety and protection of the students.

This is by staying at home and taking all precautionary measures. The President said that UAAP activities will resume by next year. As of now, they are focusing about on the current crisis. They ended their statement by expressing their gratitude towards their students-athletes, coaches, fans, partners and the whole UAAP community
