A woman took courage to bring a suitcase filled with dreams, inspiration, and compassion to the corporate world— a place where her stature was mold to create a space of defining what success could be. Perseverance brought her from where she is today. Mrs. Norissa Lorenzana Ridgewell— Former President of 2GO International Logistics group company. An empowered woman who took every opportunity to make her dreams valid, shared her meaningful journey towards attaining her endeavors.
Dreams With No Timeline
Her inspiration to succeed in life was her mother — Nora Lorenzana, who is also considered to be the sole breadwinner in her family. Among the nine children, she is the eldest who took the responsibility to give back everything that her mother went in life. Her unconditional love for her mom was the initial key to strive harder for her goals.
“If I am not going to be successful, all her efforts would have been in vain”. Without finishing her studies and pursuing a job as a secretary at the age of 19. Ms. Norissa worked in order to support her siblings and mother with an ideal mindset of not disposing her dreams but to pause and find inspiration to go beyond education. It was not quitting but just taking time for aiding her siblings further for their future. By this means, she was able to fulfill her goals and those who surround her to see that she can aim higher in her profession.
“Follow your heart, follow your dreams, and don’t give up because that is what I did”. Truly an inspiration to the people who might think they loss their timeline in success.
A Woman Suited with Success
The aspect of reckoning success as a fulfillment to oneself and sharing the blessings to those you cherish. Ms. Norissa deemed success at the time of being an employee in 2GO for ten years. In retention to the hardship and step towards to what she identified as the accomplishment that buoyed the achievement she perceived, from secretary, sales, customer service and upscaling to senior vice president and being the president.
Success cannot be reached by just focusing on self and the individual’s action. There are two significant points in reaching success: relationships and failure as a stepping stone.
“You cannot be successful without [successful] relationships”.
Taking relationships as a key point, building a connection or interrelation can lead to a performance that can enhance the work and actions of yourself and those people that surrounds you. As a person characterized as the leader, especially in the freight industry that has its own hierarchy—a leader or supervisor understands and respects the individual roles, no matter how low it is in the ladder of business.
“Failure is just a step towards success”. An industry that leads to the evaluation of succeeding or experiencing failure—success cannot be always encountered. However, debunking the negative connotation of failure and being replaced as a challenge or trial that would lead to the conclusion which is success. Failure is just a way to acquire lessons, orientation, and consider other opportunities in discovering the path towards success.
